If You See Something, Say Something

A Call from the Aviary Club of Nigeria

In every society, safety and peace are treasures that must be guarded with vigilance. Crime thrives not only because of those who commit it, but also because of the silence of those who witness it and fail to act. At the Aviary Club of Nigeria, we believe that every Avian and every citizen has a role to play in building a safer and stronger nation.

This principle is simple but powerful: “If you see something, say something.”

Birds in the wild survive because they are always alert. A single warning call from one bird can save an entire flock from a predator. In the same way, when members of our society stay alert and raise alarms against suspicious activities, we protect our communities from danger.

To see something and remain silent is to give crime a hiding place. But to speak up is to shine light in the darkness. As members of the Aviary Club of Nigeria, we are more than bird lovers; we are partners in peace, order, and community growth. Just as we work to preserve and protect birds, we must also stand with the government to preserve and protect society from crime.

Our responsibility is clear:

  • Report suspicious movements, gatherings, or activities in our neighborhoods.

  • Assist law enforcement officers by providing timely and accurate information.

  • Educate others to understand that silence in the face of wrongdoing is as dangerous as the crime itself.

Whenever you notice something unusual or suspicious:

  1. Report immediately to the nearest Police Station.

  2. Call local emergency hotlines to ensure quick response.

  3. Inform community leaders or security outfits where police presence is limited.

Remember, you do not need to be certain that a crime is about to happen before reporting, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Criminals thrive in silence. They take comfort in knowing that people are too afraid, too shy, or too indifferent to speak out. But just as birds take turns keeping watch while others feed, so too must we take collective responsibility for protecting our communities. When we choose silence, crime grows. When we choose courage, crime dies.

The Aviary Club of Nigeria calls on all Avians and all Nigerians:

  • Be vigilant.

  • Be courageous.

  • Speak up.

“If you see something, say something. Report it to the nearest Police Station.”

Together, we can assist the government in fighting crime and building a Nigeria where peace, justice, and safety soar high, just like the birds we cherish.

This message is brought to you by the Aviary Club of Nigeria in solidarity with the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as part of our civic responsibility to promote peace and security.
