Fellow Avians! It's July what a time to be alive!
As we soar into a new month, it's important we pause and reflect on something deeply personal yet often overlooked our mental health. Last month, June, was globally recognized as World Men's Mental Health Month, a time set aside to raise awareness about the unique mental health challenges faced by men.
However, beyond the month of June, the conversation around mental health remains vital for everyone men, women, young and old alike.
In many parts of our society, the word "mental" is still stigmatized and narrowly linked to "madness." But let's be clear: mental health is not madness. It refers to your emotional, social, and psychological well-being in simple terms, how you think, feel, and act.
And guess what? It matters. Deeply.
The New Silent Struggle
Mental health struggles are the new cancer of our time silent, creeping, and often deadly. Unlike cancer, however, this disease doesn't always need chemotherapy. What it needs is awareness, compassion, and action.
Mental strain can influence:
-
How you relate with people.
-
How you show up at work.
-
How you perceive and engage with life itself.
Let’s be honest we live in a tough world. With rising inflation, job uncertainty, unstable income, and negative news pouring in every hour, it’s no surprise that depression and anxiety are on the rise.
When your mind is constantly fed with stress and fear, your brain eventually sends distress signals to your body. You may find yourself withdrawing from social events, ignoring your appearance, or simply feeling like there's nothing worth being happy about.
You Are Not Alone
It's okay if life spirals out of control sometimes. Everyone worries the difference lies only in what we worry about. But here's the truth: worry comes from a lack of control, and you can’t control everything.
This simple act can help reduce anxiety and create room for calm. Remember: You are not your thoughts. You are the observer , the gatekeeper of your own mind.
Be a Good Gatekeeper
Your thoughts shape your feelings, and your feelings shape your actions.
-
Train your mind to focus on the bright side.
-
Don't dwell on negative thoughts, they only take root when you feed them.
-
Practice gratitude. It’s a powerful antidote to worry.
-
Confront your fears. When you face them, they shrink. When you ignore them, they grow.
Fear is not the enemy. Your relationship with fear is what makes the difference. Master it, don’t let it master you.
And most importantly, remember this truth:
“The past is a closed door. Don’t open it.”
To live a fulfilled life, you must be a good gatekeeper of your mind. Let in only what builds you. Shut out what breaks you.
Embrace Growth
And if you ever feel overwhelmed, talk to someone you trust. It could be a friend, a fellow Avian, a mentor, or a mental health professional. Opening up is not weakness it's strength in action.
After all, a healthy mind builds a stronger, more united Aviary.
Stay strong. Stay soaring.
